I cannot even express the emotions I went through after waiting and waiting and waiting, when Grandma finally came running out crying, "She's here!!" I hadn't even seen Emma yet, but one glance at the quick snapshot on her phone and I started balling crying. I was just so excited and so relieved that she finally came and was healthy, and so unbelievably thankful that labor was finally over for my sweet, patient friend.
She was born this morning at 4:21 am, a tiny, but healthy 6 lb. and 19 inches long. As I held her, and watched her look at me and stretch and make her teeny tiny baby sounds, I started crying all over again. Although she is almost exactly the same size my little pumpkin was at birth, I was in complete shock and awe at how tiny she seemed. How in the world, after only a short 10 months, have I forgotten just how small she was??
And to think, in just 2 1/2 (ish) months, that will be me lying in the hospital bed, happy and joyful, despite the exhaustion, smiling contently at my new baby boy. I can hardly wait to meet him!
