We got a great report from the doctor this morning! The x-rays looked good-the fluid in his lungs is going down, so they are looking much better and the doctor said that as far as his lungs go, the worst is over! They are able to keep his oxygen levels pretty consistently at 21% (which is like the room air that you and I breathe), and they have been able to turn down the pressure on his CPAP, which is great! Because things continue to look so good, they should not have to do regular x-rays anymore, unless they believe there is a problem.
He did have two IV's in his bellybutton, but they were able to take one of them out this morning, and just continue to provide fluids through the other one. I am very excited about this, because when he no longer needs an IV in his bellybutton, we should be able to hold him! :)
His biliruben levels have gone up, so he is now under the UV lights to help take care of the jaundice, but this is very normal. Hopefully he will only need to be under the lights for a day or two. They will also begin doubling his feedings today to 6 cc's of milk, which is a great sign, as he is beginning to digest the milk better!
I'm looking forward to spending some time with my baby boy today, and will hopefully be able to post more pictures this afternoon. I am completely amazed at the work that God is doing already in his small, fragile body. Thank you for your continued prayers! We have no doubt that God hears and is answering as He takes care of our sweet boy!
